Kylie Lip Kit: Worth the Hype?

Kylie Lip Kits: worth the hype?

Recently, my makeup obsession has reached a whole new level of crazy.  I mostly blame it on my sister.  Previously, I loved luxury cosmetics, but I had a routine of staples that I never strayed from.  My sister, on the other hand, is always on the hunt for new products to try.  And now she has me hooked on this addiction as well.

It started with the Kylie Lip Kit.  When it first came out, it was almost impossible to grab one, and quite frankly, I didn’t care.   I didn’t even like matte liquid lipstick – why would I need them?

But then, my sister asked if I could try and get one for her when they restocked a few months ago (apparently, I do have a knack for online shopping).  I said ok, and the rest was history.

It was like an adrenaline rush – quickly grabbing your colors, purchasing, and then feeling like you had attained something rare.

I know – wacko.

After that first experience, I suddenly decided that I needed  EVERY SINGLE SHADE.  What????!!!!!

Let’s just say that Kylie Cosmetics received about two full paychecks from me.

And now, every time she puts out a new color, I have to buy it.  I’m way too committed at this point.  Example: yesterday, as I sat anxiously awaiting the 6:00 pm release of Maliboo and Kristen, which sold out in eight minutes, I might add.  And I will repeat this tomorrow, when Ginger is released.

Am I crazy?

I’m not even a fangirl.  Trust me, I love the Kardashians, but I’m not obsessed enough to buy their products if they aren’t good.

The problem with the Kylie lip products? They’re actually really, really good.

I’m talking the mattes, the metals, the glosses.  They’re all fantastic.  The shades are stellar as well.

The matte liquid lipsticks are what now have me obsessed with all matte liquid lipsticks.  Kylie’s are creamy, long-lasting, and non-drying.  Her lip pencils are the best formula I’ve ever tried.

Of course, once I discovered the non-sticky, long-lasting miracle that is matte liquid lipstick, I needed to try  all the brands.  I’m talking ColourPop, Kat Von D, Dose of Colors, Milani, NYX, Jeffree Star, Too Faced… My matte liquid lipstick collection is popping, thanks to Kylie.  My bank account? Not so much.

But right now, we’re talking about Kylie Cosmetics.  Say what you want, but the girl has created a solid makeup line at a pretty reasonable price.

So, now that the verdict is in, let’s talk about my favorite shades.

For the Matte Lip Kits, my go-to shades are KoKo K, Exposed, and Dolce K.  However, I prefer a cool-toned, gray-ish nude lip over a warm shade, so I’m pretty sure that Maliboo will be my new favorite once it comes in the mail.

For the glosses, my favorite shade is Literally.  I would even go as far as to say that it is my favorite lip gloss ever.   It’s not too dark, definitely not sticky, and super pigmented.

Lastly, for the metals, I like Heir – the other shades just don’t mesh with my skintone.  I will say that I don’t use the metals very often, but my sister does , and she loves them.

Yes, I am a Kylie Cosmetics convert.  Try them at your own risk, because odds are you will get hooked just like me.

Now that I’m a self-proclaimed cosmetics addict, I’m hoping to review a few more products and shades that I’m loving.  Let me know what some of your go-to brands and colors are!
